Privacy & Usage Policy
Last Updated: August 25, 2026
At Pop the Channel, we protect your privacy — and we protect our work. We’re built for rebels, not robots, and that means we handle data with transparency and our content with a “don’t test us” attitude.
1. What We Collect (and Why)
We collect basic data to keep the Command Center running smoothly:
- Cookies: Tiny data snacks that help us understand how you use the site and improve your experience. You can disable these in your browser if you’re not into that.
- Analytics: We use tools like Google Analytics to see which “lanes” of the frontier are the busiest. No creepy spying, just traffic stats.
- Voluntary Info: If you sign up for our newsletter or contact us, we collect your name or email. You’re giving it to us voluntarily, and we will never sell it to a third party.
- Third-Party Embeds: We may embed videos (YouTube) or social posts. These services collect their own data; we encourage you to check their individual policies.
2. External Links & Third-Party FAST Platforms
Pop the Channel curates guides, playlists, and direct links to Free Ad-supported Streaming TV (FAST) services.
- Content Accuracy: While we strive to maintain archive-verified data, we do not guarantee the structural integrity, chronological episode order, or completeness of catalog titles hosted on third-party servers. If Tubi shuffles a season or Roku skips an episode, that’s on them.
- No Affiliation: We are entirely independent. We maintain no sponsorship or partnership with Tubi, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, Plex, YouTube, Fawesome, Fandango at Home, or their parent companies. We are not liable for user experience issues or “subscription upsells” encountered on those platforms.
- External Data: When you leave our site to watch a curated playlist on an external app, you are subject to their tracking technologies and ad-targeting policies.
3. Fair Use Statement (Review & Criticism)
Pop the Channel is a news and commentary site dedicated to the preservation of television history and film criticism.
- The Policy: This site utilizes limited copyrighted material — including movie stills, promotional posters, and short video clips — under the Fair Use doctrine (Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Act).
- The Purpose: This material is used strictly for the purpose of criticism, commentary, news reporting, and historical research. Our use of these assets provides unique insights and context that does not compete with the original market value of the work.
4. Site Usage & Content Protection
All written content, custom graphics, and research on Pop the Channel are the exclusive intellectual property of Lisa Babick, unless otherwise credited.
- The Rule: Reproduction or distribution of our work —including copying, downloading, re-posting, scraping, or passing off our work as your own. — without express written consent is strictly prohibited.
- The Defense: We run regular searches to spot unauthorized use. If we find our work stolen, we will issue a DMCA takedown and take whatever additional steps we think are necessary. Don’t test us.
5. Newsletter & Communication
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we’ll send occasional updates via Mailchimp. You can hit the “Unsubscribe” button at any time to exit the loop.
6. European Visitors (GDPR)
If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to access, modify, or delete your data. Contact us at contact@popthechannel.com to make that happen.
7. Kids’ Privacy
We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If a child has provided info here, contact us and we’ll incinerate it immediately.
